“How do you feel?” I asked after giving her a moment to orient herself coming out of the session.
Her eyes were still puffy from crying but there was a glow to her that had not been there before that was undeniable.
“I feel relief” she said as she pressed her hand to her chest. When we first started the session I had asked her a couple of simple questions. “What made you book this session’ and “If this session works, how would you know that it worked, what would that look like”. Her answer to my second question was simple, “I would feel relief” she responded as she rubbed her chest and went on to explain that the sadness and grief were so intense in her chest that it was unbearable.
I smiled back at her and pressed my hand against my heart also. I was feeling so happy for her that she could have some relief from the intense grief and sadness that had been overpowering and unbearable for her, making it hard for her to breath and hard for her to enjoy life.
We chatted for a while as she grounded back into herself after a 90 minute session of somatic healing followed by sound healing. I didn’t want her to feel rushed as she integrated her session and the healing that had happened.
“I don’t really understand all of this” she said. I smiled at her and gave her another moment to finish her thought pattern before I responded. “When I try to explain to other people what happens when I come to see you, I sound crazy. People literally think that I am crazy. I say that we talk about things and then you do a bunch of things with sounds while I lay down and it sounds like you are everywhere and using a bunch of different instruments but you are only one person and then after you make all of those noises with the instruments I feel better” I smiled at her again “Erin, I sound crazy explaining it to people”.
“They don’t have to understand it” I said. “All that matters is that you know and feel the shifts”. I went on to explain the science behind somatic healing and sound healing work, which I had explained before but knew that she needed to hear it again.
“You make it sound so simple” she said. She slid down from the reiki table and stood up. She stretched a little and then smiled at me and looked me in the eyes “thank you” she said in a way that my soul received deeply.
