Rain

I stood looking out the window into my back yard. The rain gently and softly fell on the trees, bushes and early spring grass. I stood completely still, in a trance, staring out the window with my bare feet on the wood floor and my hands grasping a warm mug of tea.

Without realizing it, I went back to childhood. I was sitting sideways on a bench at my grandparents dining room table, in early spring, looking out the window while eating my lunch. My grandfather said “poor man's fertilizer”.  I didn’t understand what he was saying and I asked for clarity. My grandfather went on to explain that when it rains it feeds the earth, it nourishes the earth, it supports the earth with growing. He told me to watch the color of the lawn and the trees over the next day and watch how green they got and how much they would grow from the rain.

As I came back to my body, standing in the kitchen with my mug of tea I smiled at the gift of getting to go back and relive this experience and lesson with my grandfather. Later that day, I walked in the rain and recognized that the rain was my fertilizer, the rain was nourishing my soul and supporting my growth.

When I look back on my life I realize that the universe has been supporting me with these lessons for all of my life. The universe has been supporting me to be in the exact place that I am right now, doing the exact work that I am doing, living the exact life that I am living and loving. As the rain rolled down my face I thanked the universe for the unconditional and relentless love, support and healing.
