“I don’t normally meditate in this position” I said to him as I scooted back against the headboard on the bed in the hotel room.
“I know” he said, looking me directly in the eyes. “Do you want to change positions?” he asked.
“No, I want to see what this position has to offer me” I said, recognizing that everything happens for a reason.
I closed my eyes and started to relax into the meditation only to be snapped back into my body. A wave of dizziness washed over me as I grabbed with my right hand for the bed beneath me. I recognized the sensation for what it was, I was ungrounded. As I attempted to launch out of my body for the meditation, I needed to be grounded to launch and the position that I was in wasn’t allowing me to ground effectively. I re-centered my energy and asked to ground into the ground below me and then started to relax into the meditation. Dizziness washed over me intensely again. I realized that setting an intention wasn’t enough. I shifted my body and pressed the soles of my feet together and felt myself drop deep down into my body.
A smile washed over me. My body was teaching me. My body was explaining to me that the most effective part of my body to ground with is my feet, the difference is night and day. Even though I could not get my feet in contact with the floor or ground, I could find a ground inside of myself by connecting my feet together. I felt the tension in my shoulders release and I felt my body relax. As I drifted into meditation I felt the launch out of my body and deeply into spirit.
