Nest

We were walking and chatting about the shift that she had made. Months ago, she was apologetic about being a stay at home mom. Today, she wasn’t apologetic, she was ecstatic to be a stay at home mom. No part of her was minimizing it. No part of her was hiding from it. No part of her wanted something different. She was in love with her life. She was mid sentence about how she loved her life and the wind started to blow.

Floating down from the trees above was a nest. A home. A message. With her hands reaching up towards the sky she reached to catch the nest. It fell gently to the ground and landed on the snowy road.

“I think that is for me” she said.

“I know!” I responded with a giggle as I reached down to pick it up for her.

“Erin, I found home within myself, finally”.

I looked over and smiled at her. “You sure did” I said back,  feeling absolute joy for her. She was living her dream and allowing herself to enjoy it. I handed her the nest and felt my heart open wide watching her look down at the nest in her hand with a smile the size of texas.
