Body Talk

I was seeing her weekly for spiritual coaching and she has been doing some deep healing work. She was learning how to set and hold boundaries and how to step into empowerment.

“Do you ever have sex with your partner when you don’t actually want to?” she asked.

“Nope” I smiled back at her.

“Never?” she asked.

I went on to explain that I would never have sex if I didn’t actually want to. There is a difference between being excited, being open and not wanting. I would never have sex when I didn’t actually want to have sex. I worked very hard to build a deep relationship with my body. It took me time to learn to listen to when my body is talking to me. It took me time to understand my body when it whispers rather than waiting until it yells. The relationship with my body is one of my deepest and most important relationships. It took me time and energy to build this level of trust and understanding with my body and if I start not listening to it now then I can’t expect that it will continue to talk to me.

Just like my relationship with my partner isn’t something that I take lightly, my relationship with my body isn’t something that I take lightly.

She smiled back at me, “I like that” she said.

“Me too” I responded as I took a sip of my tea.
