I like the way it feels

If you come to my house for coffee you may notice that I pick the same coffee mug each time. I will pour you coffee in any mug that you like, unless it is my coffee mug. I am protective of it. I had a second one that I loved but I broke it almost a year ago.

I like the way that the mug makes contact with my lip. It isn’t super thick on the rim of the mug, it is simply perfect. It brings me genuine joy to lift the mug to my mouth and press it against my lip. I have been a long time believer that people who are sensitive to energy are sensitive to everything (food, meditations, touch, smell etc). I have always been sensitive to how my body interacts with the world, for example, how my lip feels pressed against the rim of a mug. I truly get joy from the way my favorite mug feels when it makes contact with my lip.  You may think that it would eventually lose its novelty, but it hasn't yet and I’m 39.

I like the way the mug feels in my hand or hands. You see, this is one of the great things about this mug, it feels good when I hold it with just one hand but it also feels good when I hold it with two. You can’t always get this in a mug so when you find one that feels good in one hand or two AND it feels good against your lip…… you keep it and make it your favorite mug.

I have always been someone who found great joy and pleasure in the small things in life. When I move through life too quickly, I miss the small things. When I miss the small things, I almost always find myself feeling unfulfilled. But, when I can slow down and enjoy the details of life I have a day filled with my favorite coffee mugs, the smell of the earth, the sound of the wind, the feel of my bare feet on the sand, then I feel very fulfilled. My day rolls from one happy thing to another. The act of slowing down and focusing on the details of the experience allows me to really sink into it and enjoy it and by “it” I mean the experience and life.
