Hide and seek

I giggled as he walked into the room from brushing his teeth and showering. I was alone in bed and had been playing in spirit.

“Whatcha doing?” he asked with playfulness in his voice.

“Making my energy quiet,” I responded and began to giggle.

“What?” he asked as the playfulness dissipated and curiosity set in.

“Well, I was lying here wondering how quiet I could make my energy. My energy is normally loud and it makes it easy for people to see me, so I am practicing making my energy soft and quiet. I am wondering if I can master making my energy quiet if I could be in a room and people could enter and not even realize that I am there. They would be able to see me, but they wouldn’t really notice me,” I explained.

He laughed as he dropped his towel from around his waist and slid into bed next to me. “Why?” he asked.

I went on to explain what had brought the concept up for me originally and then how I had begun to explore it more deeply, wondering if I could move freely between the two expressions and everywhere in between.

“Haven’t you ever met someone who you could barely remember or who everyone seems to overlook,” I asked.

“Yeah,” he responded after a slight delay.

“Well, my energy isn’t that. My energy is loud but why can’t it be quiet also? Why can’t I be both? Then, if I learn to control it, I can really use it to express myself energetically in whatever way I am feeling in the moment.”

“That would be interesting” he said as his voice got quiet.

“Plus, then I could hide from people,” I said with a giggle. “I could pull my energy back and hide it and then people would barely see me.”

I could feel him thinking about what I was saying as he began to explore the concept himself. I laughed to myself for a moment. I wondered what it must be like to be married to me. He never knew from one moment to another what would come out of me. For someone who had previously lived a life full of predictability and rigidity, he sure had gone from one extreme to another.

I closed my eyes and returned to playing with how loud and quiet I could make my energy.
